About Me

Thanks for visiting my site especially if you’re one of my friends/family I have given my blog address to in a subtle demand to check me out and also especially if you happened here on your own!

For those of you I have never met, I am Amanda, a newfound blogger with a wannabe list a mile long.  By day, I am a child life specialist helping kids deal with being in the hospital.  On lunch breaks, I am a serious daydreamer!  A daydreamer who aspires to be as cool about crafting and baking and blogging as the bloggers who I stalk {in a non-creepy way, of course}.  While I’m probably not your typical craft blogger (I’m single and kidless) I find that I can relate to the crafty women (mommies or not) who use their handmaking talents to keep them sane in a chaotic world.

I will probably edit this a million times because I’m not great at talking about myself when put on the spot and I’ve put myself on the spot by making myself write the “about me” section. The pressure!!!

Here are some random things about me:

  • When pumping gas, I like to end on a whole number but have started forcing myself to end mid-dollar
  • I am from Louisiana but did not like seafood for most of my childhood
  • I’m an avid LSU fan living in Arkansas Razorback country
  • Sauerkraut was “sour crap” to me for a good chunk of my childhood.  I loooooved the stuff despite thinking that it had a really crazy name.
  • Now that I’m an adult, I wonder why my mom never corrected me since “crap” was a bad word back then.
  • I was almost named Wilhelmina.  This is a secret that only my most trusted friends knew back in the day. My dad talked my mom into naming me Amanda and I always thought that was a life-altering thing, in a good way. (No offense to any of you Wilhelminas out there.  It’s actually a distinguished name which is the exact reason I can appreciate it now when I couldn’t as a kid who didn’t want to stick out in the crowd).
  • I was a was a total tomboy as a kid and I loved loved loved wrestling wrasslin
  • When writing I love using “…” and () and {}     (the last I think I have probably picked up from all of my blog stalking
  • My family has a sweet potato farm (organic!) in Louisiana and I always aspire to grow a garden in my backyard (farming is in my blood, after all) but I have yet to do it.  Somebody give me a hard time about this!

I hope that you have enjoyed reading getting to know a little about me and I really hope you check up on my little acre in the bloggy land from time to time!
